Manchester United legend Roy Keane has praised the business the club has done in the summer transfer window and said he wouldn’t be surprised to see them make another significant acquisition.

The Red Devils have already signed Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and the arrival of Raphael Varane from Real Madrid appears to be imminent after he completed a medical this week.

Speaking on The Overlap Live Fan Debate, Keane said he was impressed by his old club’s work in the transfer market so far.

“I think the couple of signings they have made are obviously fantastic, there’s no doubting the quality they’ve got in,” said Keane.

“But I’m worried definitely about the middle of the park - we can get to the goalkeeper in a minute and I’m still not convinced with the right-back (Aaron Wan-Bissaka) - but the signings have been good.”

While United have spent big to land Sancho and Varane, Keane said he thinks there may yet be one more big name to come through the door.

“I still have a feeling United will pull something out of the bag over the next few weeks,” he said. “I still think they need someone in the middle of the park.”

Gary Neville, who was also part of the panel, asked Keane if he believed United needed to sign a midfielder. “I think they need to get one in, yeah,” was the Irishman’s response.

Although United have added class in defence and attack, some supporters are still concerned about the defensive midfield options.

United have been linked with a possible move for West Ham United’s Declan Rice to bolster their holding midfield options, although Hammers manager David Moyes has ruled out the departure of key players in the current window.
